Porta Potties for Festivals, 5Ks and Big Crowds
Races, mud runs, farmers markets, carnivals and multi-day festivals don't fail on the stage — they fail on the restroom line. Cluster the toilets where the crowd actually is, and service them between days.

How many toilets does a race need?
Runners all go in the 30 minutes before the start, so race math is different. Plan about one toilet per 50 runners at the start line — 8 toilets for a 400-runner 5K — plus an accessible unit, and 1 or 2 at the finish.

How many toilets does a festival need?
Start with one per 50 attendees for 4 hours, add one per 100 for longer days and one per 100 when beer is served. At least 5% of each cluster must be accessible, and plan one wash station per 3 to 4 toilets near food.
Need it on site today?
Call before noon and dispatch can usually put you on today's truck. You get the full price — delivery, pickup, fuel, tax — before you pay.
Where should the clusters go?
Put a cluster at each end of the grounds and one beside food and beer, with doors facing a walkway. Accessible units go at the end of the row on firm ground, and the service truck needs a lane to every cluster.

What about weekly farmers markets?
A market permit often requires restrooms. Keep a standard unit and an accessible unit on a monthly rental, lock them between market days, and schedule the weekly service the morning before.

Questions callers asked about this
How many toilets for a 400-runner 5K?
Runners all go at once, before the start. Plan about 1 toilet per 50 runners near the start line — 8 for 400 — plus 1 accessible unit and 1 at the finish area.
Can you clean it every night during our three-day festival?
Yes. Nightly service for multi-day events is scheduled after the gates close and priced per visit.
We have 300 people, maybe more. Does that change what I ask for?
Yes. At 300 guests think in clusters: about 6 standard units for 4 hours, more for drinks or longer days, at least one accessible unit per cluster, and a wash station for every 4 toilets.
