Timing & same-day

Can I get a porta potty delivered as soon as possible today?

Usually, yes. Call (475) 317-5899 before noon. If a truck and a unit are free in the North End yard, dispatch adds you to today's route; if not, you get the first stop tomorrow morning. Any rush charge is quoted before you pay.

What's the latest I can call today and still get one out?

Noon is the practical cutoff for same-day. After that, most orders go on tomorrow's first route. For Stratford, Fairfield and Trumbull addresses a 1pm call can still work.

Can the driver come between 10 and 11:30 so I can be there?

We can note a morning or afternoon preference, but routes shift with traffic on I-95 and Route 8, so we can't promise a 90-minute slot. You don't need to be there if the spot is marked.

The wedding starts at 6pm. Could it be delivered around 4?

Don't cut it that close. Wedding units go out the business day before so a late truck can never hold up the ceremony. You pay the same event price.

How much notice do you need — a couple of days?

Two business days lets us promise the date. Restroom trailers need about a week. Same-day is possible but depends on what's in the yard that morning.

We won't know the headcount until closer to the date. How far ahead do we need to book?

Reserve the date now with your best guess, then adjust the count up to 48 hours before delivery. Graduation and wedding weekends from May to September fill first.

Do you deliver on Saturdays?

Our office is open Saturday and a small Saturday crew runs, so Saturday drops are possible for a surcharge. Most customers avoid it: a Thursday or Friday drop with a Monday pickup costs less.

Can you drop off and pick up the same day? The park is across the street.

Not as a standard service. The truck makes one trip to deliver and one to collect, so a same-day turnaround is billed like two visits. A day-before drop is cheaper.

Do I need to be home when you pick it up?

No. Leave the path clear and the gate unlocked or give us the code. The driver pumps the tank, loads the unit and texts when it's gone.

You can have it here the next day?

Next-day delivery is our normal turnaround for Bridgeport and the surrounding towns. Book by end of day and you're on tomorrow's route.

Any idea what time you're delivering today — morning or afternoon?

Routes are built in the morning. Call dispatch after 8am and we can tell you whether your stop falls in the morning or afternoon half; the driver also calls about 20–30 minutes out.

My original vendor never showed. Can you take over today?

Call (475) 317-5899 with the address, placement notes and an on-site number. If a unit is free we route it today; at worst it's first thing tomorrow. Several job sites have come to us exactly this way.

The weekend rule

I only need it for about five hours. Don't you do it for one day?

Event pricing is one flat rate for the whole event, not by the hour. A unit for a five-hour party and a unit kept Friday to Monday cost the same, because the cost is in the two truck trips.

Do you do half-day rentals?

No. The price covers delivery, the event and pickup, whether you use it for three hours or three days.

If it's dropped Friday and picked up Monday, am I charged for three days?

No. A weekend event is billed as one event. The Friday drop and Monday pickup are how the routes work, not extra days.

Would it cost less if you delivered Friday instead of Thursday?

The event price is the same. Thursday is sometimes easier to schedule in busy weeks, which is why dispatch may offer it.

Why can't you pick it up Saturday night right after the party?

Weekend pickups need a special crew and cost more. A Monday pickup is included in the price, so most hosts simply leave the unit until then.

Is it okay to leave the unit sitting there when we're not around?

Yes. Units sit at empty fields, parks and job sites every weekend. Ask for a lock if the spot is public, and keep the door facing away from the street.

Prices & paperwork

How much does a porta potty rental cost in Bridgeport?

It depends on the unit, the dates and the address. Across 150 rental calls we reviewed from 2025–2026, the most-quoted price for a standard event unit was $249, with quotes from about $190 to $420 before delivery, fuel and tax. Your written quote is the final number.

What does a monthly job-site toilet cost?

In those calls, monthly construction units ran about $190–$285 per 28-day cycle with weekly cleaning, plus a one-time delivery-and-pickup charge of roughly $35–$165. The second cycle costs less because the trip charge isn't repeated.

How much is the deluxe flushing unit with a sink?

Deluxe flushing units with a sink were quoted between about $367 and $629 for an event, including delivery. They sell out first on summer weekends.

What does a wheelchair-accessible unit cost?

Accessible units were quoted between about $270 and $525 per event. They're larger and heavier to haul, and inventory is limited, so book them early.

What do restroom trailers cost?

Restroom trailers were quoted from about $1,400 for a small trailer to about $8,500 for a 10-stall trailer, including setup and teardown. The price depends on stalls, nights and whether we bring a generator or water.

Is that price per unit or for the total?

Rental prices are per unit. The delivery-and-pickup charge is usually once per trip, so two units on one truck cost less than twice one unit.

Are there any other fees with this?

Ask for the line-by-line quote. It shows the rental, delivery and pickup, any fuel charge, any card fee, extra cleanings and Connecticut sales tax. Nothing is added after you sign.

Do you charge Connecticut sales tax?

Yes. Connecticut taxes equipment rentals, so tax appears on the quote. Churches, schools, towns and other exempt groups pay no tax once we have their exemption certificate.

Is there a discount for non-profits or veterans?

We don't run a separate non-profit or veteran discount. Tax-exempt groups save the sales tax, and orders with several units on one delivery get a lower per-unit price.

Is a construction porta potty cheaper than a party one?

Usually. Monthly construction units are priced for long stays with weekly service. Event units are our newest units, kept for parties, and priced per event.

The invoice says more than you told me on the phone. Why?

It shouldn't. Every charge belongs on the quote you approve. If a number doesn't match, call us and we'll correct it before anything is charged.

Can you email me a formal quote so I can show my board?

Yes. Dispatch emails or texts a written quote in a few minutes. Boards, pastors, grant committees and HOA managers often need one before approving.

I just need a quote, not an invoice. Is that okay?

Absolutely. A quote holds nothing and charges nothing. When you're ready, call back or reply and we'll book it.

Someone out of town is paying. How do you take payment?

We text or email a secure payment link to whoever is paying. They pay by card; you get the confirmation and the delivery details.

Can I pay the driver when he arrives?

Drivers don't handle money. Orders are paid by card when booked. Approved business and municipal accounts can pay by check against an invoice.

We're a church and expected to be invoiced. Is that possible?

Yes, once the church has an account set up. The first order may need a card while the account is approved. Send your tax-exempt certificate with it.

Units & what's inside

Does it come with a hand-washing station, or is it just the toilet?

A standard unit has a toilet, a urinal, toilet paper and a hand-sanitizer dispenser. For soap and water, choose the deluxe unit with a sink inside or add a two-sided wash station.

Can people wash their hands inside it?

Only in the deluxe unit, which has a foot-pump sink with soap and paper towels. Standard and accessible units have sanitizer, not a sink.

What's the difference between your event unit and a construction unit?

Same basic toilet. Event units are the newest in the fleet and only go to parties and weddings. Construction units are sturdier workhorses rented by the month with weekly service.

Does the flushing one need a water hookup or electricity?

No. The deluxe flushing unit carries its own fresh-water tank and uses foot pedals for the flush and the sink. Nothing to plug in or hook up.

How many flushes does the deluxe unit get?

The fresh-water tank is the limit. Plan on the deluxe unit for about 50 guests at a typical party; for bigger crowds add a second unit or a standard unit for overflow.

Do you have a double unit — one side for men, one for ladies?

The simplest answer is two units side by side, or a two-stall restroom trailer if the site has power and water.

Is there any lighting inside? Our party runs until midnight.

Standard units have a translucent roof that lets in daylight but no lights. For night events, hang a battery-powered light inside, or choose a restroom trailer, which has built-in lighting.

Do you provide toilet paper?

Yes. Every unit arrives stocked. Monthly units are restocked at each weekly visit; for long events we can leave extra rolls.

Can you text me a photo of the inside? I need to show my pastor.

Sure. Ask dispatch at (475) 317-5899 and we'll text photos of the exact unit type you're considering.

Does the accessible unit have a sink?

No. The accessible unit gives up sink space to keep a full 60-inch turning circle for a wheelchair. Add a wash station next to it.

Do you have a toilet mounted on a trailer we can move along the job?

Yes, towable units exist for crews that move every few days, such as utility line work. Ask dispatch about availability and the service plan.

Do you rent shower trailers?

Ask dispatch. Shower trailers need power, water and about a week's notice, and are quoted case by case.

Cleaning & pump-outs

How often do you clean a monthly unit?

Once a week. The crew pumps the tank, scrubs and sanitizes the inside, adds fresh deodorizer and restocks paper and sanitizer.

Do we pay extra for the once-a-week service?

No. Weekly service is built into every 28-day rental.

It's summer and hot. Can we get cleaning twice a week?

Yes. A second weekly visit is priced on the quote. Busy crews and hot August weeks are when it pays off.

Can you clean it every night during our three-day festival?

Yes. Nightly service for multi-day events is scheduled after the gates close and priced per visit.

Do you service porta potties that aren't yours?

Yes. We pump and clean customer-owned units on a schedule or per visit. In the calls we reviewed, per-visit pump-outs ran about $150.

Can you pump the waste tank on our church trailer?

Yes. Tell dispatch roughly how many gallons the tank holds and where the outlet is so the truck brings the right hose.

Our rented camper's tank is full. Do you do RV pump-outs?

Yes. RV black-water pump-outs were quoted around $225 in the calls we reviewed. Gray water can usually be pumped on the same visit.

Is there a monthly plan for pumping units we own?

Yes. Owners with units on farms or sites can set a recurring pump-out schedule, which is easier to budget than calling each time.

Placement, access & security

There's no street address. Can I give you GPS coordinates?

Yes. Text or email the coordinates or a dropped pin. Parks, fields, new subdivisions and cemeteries are delivered this way all the time.

The GPS takes drivers to the wrong place. What should I do?

Put turn-by-turn directions in the order notes and give a landmark. The driver will also call you from the road if anything looks off.

It's a brand-new site that isn't on maps yet. Can you still find it?

Give us the nearest mapped address, such as the church or business out front, plus a pin for the exact spot.

Can you put it inside the fence so we can lock it in?

Yes, if the gate is wide enough and the truck can reach within about 15 feet. Otherwise we set it just outside and you can chain it.

Is it lockable? I'm worried someone will use it overnight.

Yes. We can fit an outside hasp for a padlock or supply a combination lock. Public parks and empty job sites are where this matters most.

Can you anchor it so it doesn't blow over? Our lot gets a lot of wind.

Yes. On exposed sites, including shoreline lots in Black Rock and the South End, we can stake or strap the unit. Mention wind when you book.

How do we give people privacy? Should we put it under a canopy?

Place the unit beside the driveway or behind a hedge, facing away from the tent. A canopy over the door works too; just leave the roof vent clear.

Can it stay in the parking lot all week?

If the property manager agrees, yes. Keep it out of the plow path in winter and away from fire lanes.

Where should it go if it's for a party in the backyard?

On level ground near the driveway, within about 15 feet of where the truck can stop, and away from the food. Mark the spot with a cone and leave a note.

What if someone damages it while we're not there?

Normal wear is on us. Damage from vandalism, fire or misuse is the renter's responsibility, which is why we suggest a lock on public sites.

Sizing

There will be 120 people. What do you recommend?

For a 4-hour event, plan 3 standard units (1 per 50 guests, rounded up). Add a fourth if drinks are served, and make one of them accessible if the event is public.

Is one toilet enough for 60 people?

For a short party, one toilet plus a wash station handles about 60 guests if the line moves. For an all-day event, add a second unit.

We have 300 people, maybe more. Does that change what I ask for?

Yes. At 300 guests think in clusters: about 6 standard units for 4 hours, more for drinks or longer days, at least one accessible unit per cluster, and a wash station for every 4 toilets.

The venue only has one restroom and 55 people are coming. Should we add a unit?

Yes. One extra standard unit for the men takes most of the line off the venue's restroom.

How many toilets for a 400-runner 5K?

Runners all go at once, before the start. Plan about 1 toilet per 50 runners near the start line — 8 for 400 — plus 1 accessible unit and 1 at the finish area.

How many stalls should a restroom trailer have?

Plan roughly one stall per 50 guests. A 2-stall trailer suits about 100 guests; a 4-stall about 200. Drinks push the number up.

How many people can one unit handle over a whole weekend?

About 50 guests for a single 4-hour stretch. Across a full weekend of use, add a mid-event cleaning or a second unit.

How many toilets does an 8-person roofing crew need?

OSHA requires 1 for 20 or fewer workers. With weekly service, one unit serves a crew of 8 comfortably for a 40-hour week.

Booking, changes & pickup

If we change our mind, what's the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 48 hours before delivery for a full refund to your card. Inside 48 hours a cancellation fee may apply. Same-day orders can't be refunded once the truck leaves.

When you say 48 hours, is that business hours?

It's 48 hours before the scheduled delivery. For a Monday delivery, call by the previous Thursday afternoon to be safe.

So I don't call this number for pickup?

For monthly rentals, call (475) 317-5899 when you're done and dispatch books the pickup. Event units are collected automatically after the event.

We don't know how long we'll need it. Can we go month to month?

Yes. Monthly rentals renew every 28 days until you call for pickup. There's no penalty for ending early.

It might be four to six months now instead of two. Does that change anything?

Nothing to rebook. The rental keeps renewing every 28 days with weekly service until you call.

What happens if I forget to call for pickup?

The next 28-day cycle starts and is billed. Set a reminder a few days before your job wraps up.

Can I put the rental under my business name?

Yes. Quotes, invoices and receipts can carry your company name and a PO number.

How do I sign the agreement on my phone?

Open the link in the text, tap the signature box and draw with your finger. If it won't open, call and we'll resend it or take a verbal approval.

Can I hold the date and call you right back?

Yes. A quote is held for two days. Weekend slots in June can go quickly, so call back as soon as you can.

Who you're dealing with

Are you actually located in Bridgeport?

Yes. Charles Rental Works runs out of 248 Island Brook Ave in Bridgeport's North End. The trucks, units and dispatchers are here.

Do you own the toilets, or do you sub it out?

Am I talking to an answering service?

No. (475) 317-5899 rings our dispatch desk during business hours, Mon–Sat 7am–7pm. After hours, leave a message or send the work order and we call first thing.

Will your number come up when you call me back?

Yes. We call and text from (475) 317-5899, so save it before your delivery day.

What towns do you cover?

Bridgeport, Stratford, Fairfield, Trumbull, Shelton, Milford and Norwalk get our fastest service. We also run scheduled routes to New Haven, West Haven, Hamden, Stamford, Greenwich, Danbury, Waterbury, Meriden, New Britain, Bristol, Hartford and Manchester.

Special situations

They're shutting off our water for three days. How much for a week?

A one-week rental is priced as a single event in most cases, delivered before the shutoff and picked up when water is back. Call with the shutoff date and we'll quote it.

My grandmother's well pump died and the party is tomorrow. Can you help?

Yes, call right away. Next-day delivery is standard; a standard unit plus a wash station covers most family parties.

Our business lost water. Can we get a toilet and a wash station immediately?

Call now. Businesses can't stay open without restrooms, so we prioritize same-day delivery when a truck is free. Health-care and food sites should add a wash station.

We need it every Friday night for football season. Keep it or move it each week?

Keep it. A monthly rental with weekly service costs far less than four separate weekend drop-offs, and you can lock it during the week.

Our haunted house is open Fridays and Saturdays in October. How does that work?

Rent by the month and schedule the weekly service for Thursday, so the unit is fresh each opening weekend.

Can I rent for a memorial at home without it looking out of place?

Yes. We deliver the day before and place the unit beside the driveway or garage, out of sight of the gathering. A wash station next to it is a kind touch for guests.

The fire marshal won't approve our patio without restrooms. Can you help?

Yes. Temporary accessible units are often what an inspector wants to see. Tell us what the marshal requires and we'll quote accessible units and a wash station.

We need restrooms for a film shoot by 8am tomorrow. Possible?

Book today and we'll deliver this afternoon or first thing in the morning so the unit is waiting when the crew arrives.
